Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport
It was reported this month in the Business Perthshire Magazine (not associated
with) that this website is no longer available and defaults to the Rolf
Harris website. We don't understand why the local business magazine should
be making those comments. The editor then goes on to accuse Perthshire Business
of "losing their bottle", because they claim they can't find this website.

Uptime on this site has been 100%, serving web pages to upwards of 1500 people from around the globe, daily for the last 9 weeks. Possibly it's some sort of cunning trick to convince local businesses that we no longer exist. This site is available on the first 4 pages of all major search engines.
VIS Entertainment were based in Tayside. It is unfortunate that one of Scotland's most successful games companies went into administration early Thursday morning. The Dundee studio closed immediately with the loss of 54 jobs with a further 28 jobs lost from the Edinburgh office. VIS Entertainment employed a total of 96 people across both sites. The remaining staff have been sent home as Tenon Recovery attempt to salvage the company. During the redundancy process the staff are more than likely to receive some sort of payout.
VIS Interactive were responsible for the development of State of Emergency, The Powerpuff Girls, Tom & Jerry in War of the Whiskers and the Evil Dead best seller. Producing games for the Playstation 2, Xbox and Gamecube consoles. It is understood that the administrators are carrying out a full assessment of the business with the aim of completing work on games still under development. Several parties have shown interest in the business.

As Perthshire Business watched the ongoing situation at VIS Entertainment we had a look at the jobs vacancies on Interactive Tayside and noticed that Dundee-based games developer, Caveman Arts were recruiting for a 2d pixel artist.
Caveman Arts were originally based at the Soft Center in Perth in 2002 and moved away with the lure of bright lights, big city to Dundee. Here's a success story that could have happened in Perthshire given innovative business support and financial assistance.
Caveman moved at the time because a better startup environment was available in Argyll House in Dundee. The skills and talent are available locally. What is so wrong with the local economy that innovative companies are not adequately supported.
Perthshire comes into the same Scottish Enterprise area as Dundee. If Dundee can attract and assist new startup business that grow into successful businesses. Why is the situation different in Perthshire
When Perth and Kinross council say that some projects require the skills talent and expertise of those who happen to be located outwith Perthshire. They mean it.
