business. There's no time to mess around. Is there a circus in the town? Can
we get a witness? Who's in charge of this carnival we call a town. Welcome
to the Carnival we call
Thanks for your messages of support

New Year 2006
Happy New year (2006) and all the best from
Perthshire Business
2005 an excellent year for Perthshire Business. Launching in January with
our sister site Business Perthshire. Both sites have gained local, national
and international readers during the last year. In 2006 we will be joined
by two additional websites (perhaps more!). It's fantastic to see other companies
and individuals now taking an active interest in the local economy, activities
of the Chamber of Commerce and Perth and Kinross council. Four websites working
together as one making 2006 something special. Perthshire Business and Business
Perthshire welcome the arrival of the new sites.
After one year Perth and Kinross council still deny any bias towards awarding
contracts to companies from outwith the Perthshire area. That's four years
without a local design company being awarded a contract from our friendly
neighbourhood council. How long must we sing this song and when will Perth
and Kinross council realise the potential and talent in the local economy.
It's about time the council realised there are businesses in Perth and Kinross
that can provide a satisfactory level of service and enthusiasm in the promotion
of Perthshire.
Our local councillors have been quiet during the last year. Only appearing
for the odd free lunch, photo shoot, self promotion and the planning of foreign
trips at our expense. Wake up councilor's are you there? We expect you to
promote all businesses in Perth and Kinross with the same enthusiasm you give
to a free lunch.
During 2006 Perthshire Business will be continuing
to offer local businesses and individuals the opportunity to have a voice
and promotional services on the internet.
Kicking of the programme for 2006 we will be examining an email received just
before Xmas. Thirty Perthshire companies have left the doors open on their
website statistics. This is a serious problem. Open statistics allow your
competitors to examine the traffic to your website and target their own efforts
towards your customers. Each site was subjected to accessibility and usability
testing by Perthshire Business over the holidays. The statistics clearly show
that the sites are seldom visited and the owners have not received value for
money. Each one was poorly optimised for search engines. We will provide a
full and detailed report on our findings soon.
The companies mentioned in the email will not be listed on Perthshire Business.
The reason being that five of the sites provided enough information to enable
access to the website host server. In simple terms enough information was
provided to gain full access to the website and make changes to the content.
